COVID 19 Important Update 17th March 2020

Following advice from the government and public health, The Grange Practice, alongside a number of other local surgeries are changing the way we are working.  We need to do this in this unprecedented situation to protect staff and patients as much as possible from potential exposure to the virus.

As a GP surgery we have some of the most vulnerable people in the surgery at different times, therefore, we are implementing the following with immediate effect.

ALL requests for consultations regardless of the nature, will be assessed by a clinician by putting you onto a telephone list.  The clinician will then decide if the consultation can be done via the telephone or must be ‘face to face’ and then will allocate an appointment accordingly.

If you already have a ‘face to face’ appointment booked at the surgery, you will receive a phone call to be asked some screening questions and also to be offered the opportunity to change it to a telephone consultation.

If you do attend the surgery for a planned appointment after being triaged in the way described above, please do not bring anyone into the surgery with you unless it is absolutely necessary.  Space yourself out within the surgery waiting room to reduce risk.  Wash you hands before and after attending the surgery or use hand sanitizer.

Expect to have your temperature checked at the entrance to the surgery before entering the building and also please expect to be asked questions about symptoms.  We would appreciate that these are answered for your protection and the protect of all our staff and GPs.

In the coming weeks we may need to cancel all routine appointments and apply even further restrictions, but will be guided by the government and our NHS colleagues.  We will update the website accordingly.

Lastly, we would like to thank all our patients in advance for your cooperation on this matters and will aim to provide the best care we can in these challenging times.
