The Grange Practice update on proposed new surgery.

Dear patient,

The Grange Practice is planning to move from its existing site in a shared medical centre on Dumpton Park Drive to a new, larger building off New Haine Road near Westwood Cross.

The current surgery building is no longer big enough to serve our patients’ needs and does not have the space to be able to provide the clinical or administrative functions required to care for an increasing population.  The proposal is to relocate to the new site from which it will provide a comprehensive range of primary care-based services in purpose built new premises.

The proposed plans for the overall site, and our proposed building are set out below, along with a questionnaire to enable us to gather your views on our proposed move. An outline application for the entire site was submitted in December of last year and subject to your views, and the outcome of this wider application, we would anticipate a detailed planning application for the new GP premises to be submitted in the summer of this year.

We would warmly invite you to complete the attached questionnaire so that we can assess the views of all members of our community, as part of this process. Hard copies of the plans are available in the Practice for you to view as well, and the questionnaire is also available at the surgery if you would prefer to complete the process in person. To email in your views/completed questionnaire please use the following email account kmicb.grangepracticeengagement@nhs.net.

A summary of the views will be made available on the website at a future date. There will be two open public meetings, the dates, time and location will be published on the website as well as in the practice and on our Facebook page once they have been confirmed. Please note that the consultation period closes on the 4th April 2024. We look forward to hearing from you with your thoughts on this exciting opportunity.

Diabetes and Ramadan

This year, Ramadan is from the 10th of March to the 9th of April.

Choosing to fast is a very personal decision, however if you are unsure if you should fast, please speak to your Imam and one of our Diabetes Team.

If you decide to fast for Ramadan and you have Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes, it is very important to plan ahead and be well prepared. Some medication changes may need to be made in order to keep you safe while fasting.
